Description from the seller
Christofle – Sauce boat with original silver-plated saucer – Luigi XV style – France, 19th century
Refined sauce boat with original silver-plated saucer, made by the prestigious Maison Christofle, historic Parisian manufactory founded in 1830 and synonymous with excellence in French silverware.
The piece stands out for its elegant Luigi XV (rocaille) design, with flowing profiles, shaped edges, and rich shell, scroll, and vegetal motifs, executed with great finesse.
The sauce boat features a double curved handle with a prominent central shell element, while the saucer rests on three decorated feet, a solution typical of high-end silverware intended for aristocratic table services.
A monogram engraved on the body bears witness to a private commission and adds an additional historic-collectible interest.
The Christofle hallmark visible confirms the piece’s authenticity and craftsmanship quality.
A piece of great charm, ideal for both collectors of 19th-century French silverware and as a decorative object for display.
