Description from the seller
Christofle Apollo range – 35-piece, Silvered metal flatware set – Apollo and 84 hallmarks – France – 20th century
Beautiful silver-plated flatware set made by the prestigious French house Apollo for Christofle, internationally renowned for the quality of its silverware since the 19th century.
Each piece bears two distinct hallmarks:
Hallmark “Apollo”: this is the name of the Apollo brand, belonging to Christofle’s production. This mark allows precise identification of the cutlery line within the manufacturer’s catalog.
Hallmark “84”: this number corresponds to the silvering index, indicating the amount of pure silver used for plating during the electroplating process. In this case, 84 grams of silver are used to silver a standard 24-piece service, which corresponds to a good-quality silvering for the period.
Composition
12 tablespoons
12 teaspoons
11 forks
Total: 35 pieces
Dimensions and weight (approx.)
Tablespoons: 21 cm – about 88 g each
Teaspoons: 14 cm – about 34 g each
Forks: 21 cm – about 85 g each
Era
Estimated production mid-20th century (1950s–1970s).
Condition
Good overall condition with light signs of wear consistent with age. Silvering remains well preserved.
