Description from the seller
Greyhound-headed walking cane – carved wood
Walking cane entirely in carved wood, likely late 19th - early 20th century, European folk or countryside style (possibly Belgian, French or English). Curved handle finely carved as a greyhound head with elongated expressive muzzle, laid-back ears, inlaid light eye (likely glass or bone, one eye missing but the remaining one intact and clearly visible). Straight natural shaft retaining bark and knots for authentic rustic appearance, dark brown polished patina from handling. Good overall condition for an antique piece: no major breaks, cracks or distortions in the wood, natural wear (rubbing, minor surface marks), discreet loss of one eye without significantly affecting the overall aesthetics. Lower end with worn wooden ferrule. Weight 250 g. Total length 90 cm, handle width approx. 10 cm, max thickness 2 cm. Private Belgian collection provenance.
