Handmade glass object by Dutch artist Paul Spannenberg, in clear glass with a solid ruby core, signed “P. Spannenberg 2010”, dating to 2010, dimensions 14.5 cm (W) x 12.5 cm (H) x 14.5 cm (D), in excellent condition with a tiny edge pinpoint and no cracks or restorations.
Description from the seller
Offered, without a reserve price, a beautiful and characterful glass object by the Dutch glass artist Paul Spannenberg, executed in clear glass with a solid, thick base containing a deep ruby-red core.
The design plays with light and optical effects in a special way: the red core is intensified by the clear glass and appears to float within the object from different angles.
The piece is handmade and signed by the artist with “P. Spannenberg 2010” (see detail photos).
Because of its heavy, solid construction the object feels very sturdy and it is a striking decorative art object for a modern interior or a glass collection.
Condition:
Good condition. At the edge there is a very small pinhead (minuscule edge point), otherwise in neat condition with no cracks or restorations.

Paul Spannenberg’s passion for glass began in his youth when he became fascinated by the bubbles in a bottle. Curious, in 1998 Paul Spannenberg attended a glassblowing workshop at van Tetterode in Amsterdam. Under the guidance of Yvon Trossel and Bibi Smit, the foundation for glassblowing was laid there. Paul Spannenberg also took lessons from the renowned glassblower Richard Price.
His interest in form is mainly directed at the optical effects of glass. Differences in thickness, the contrast between inner and outer forms are important. His style is also recognizable by the use of colored glass shards. In his daily life, Paul Spannenberg guides students at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Arnhem. In his spare time, Paul Spannenberg enjoys expressing himself in Leerdam glass.
