Description from the seller
About the owner:
"For more than 56 years I’ve been behind the wheel in racing. And if you include karting, even over 60 years with rubber on tarmac. In that time I’ve made more than 1800 starts and driven over 1050 race weekends. From pedal cars to Formula 1, and basically everything in between.
And I still happily climb into a race car, this year even again in the NASCAR Euro Series.
Alongside racing, over the years another passion emerged: collecting classic cars. Cars with a story. Many of these vehicles come from the 1950s and 1960s, a period when I was racing myself or closely involved. They are cars that evoke memories of circuits, of eras, and of a different way of racing.
My interest was never only in the well-known or exclusive models. It’s the variety that I love. From a simple runabout to Jaguars and all kinds of other brands, each with its own character and history.
Many of these cars I have owned for 30 to even 40 years. They have become part of my life and my story. That’s why it’s hard for me to part with them.
But there comes a moment when you pass the baton. And what makes classic cars so special is that they offer not only pleasure and history but also unforgettable moments.
I hope the next owners will enjoy, appreciate, and share the same passion I have had all these years."

Jaguar - E-Type Convertible - 5.3 V12 - 1972
6 years in the possession of the current owner.
History and Background: The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12
The introduction of the Series 3 in 1971 marked the ultimate evolution of the Jaguar E-Type. With the arrival of the impressive 5.3 liter V12 engine, Jaguar transformed its iconic sports car into a refined and powerful Grand Tourer. The Convertible version of the Series 3 benefited from an extended wheelbase, which not only provided significantly more interior space but also superior stability at high speeds. With its widened wheel arches and the distinctive grille, the V12 is a formidable presence that offers the perfect combination of brute power and British elegance. This 1972 example presents a rare opportunity to acquire this legendary twelve-cylinder without a reserve price.
GENERAL
The vehicle is in good overall condition with visible signs of use and general aging appropriate for a car of its age. While the exterior and interior present themselves in a very neat state, the mechanicals provide a solid basis for a enthusiast who wants to fine-tune the details.
BODYWORK & PAINT
The bodywork and paint are in very good condition and have a well-maintained appearance. There are only minimal signs of use visible, such as light stone chips or small scratches. In the past, very limited and skilled conventional painting or bodywork has been performed to preserve the visual quality of this convertible. The gaps are generally neat. The fabric hood is in very good condition and closes well, as does the particularly hard top that comes with the E-Type
TECHNICS
Under the long hood lies the imposing 5.3 liter V12 engine, Jaguar’s technological showpiece. The car is mechanically sound and solid. As is typical with the complex V12 technology, one should expect regular maintenance and possible repairs to bring the engine’s suppleness and reliability to optimal state. The dynamo has recently been replaced. The exhaust emits a deep and dark sound
INTERIOR
The interior is in very good and clean condition with minimal signs of wear. The interior is well preserved and looks fresh. Depending on personal standards, some small missing or defective interior components may be replaced, but the overall presentation is of a high level. The dashboard, door panels, gauges and instruments are in tidy condition.
CHASSIS & UNDERSIDE
The structural base of the frame is good. The underside of the Jaguar shows normal signs of use and some light fly rust on the surfaces of the construction.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
