Description from the seller
About the owner:
"For more than 56 years I’ve been behind the wheel in racing. And counting karting, well over 60 years with rubber on asphalt. In that time I’ve made more than 1800 starts and driven over 1050 race weekends. From pedal cars to Formula 1, and basically everything in between.
And I still happily hop into a race car; this year, in fact, again in the NASCAR Euro Series.
Alongside racing, another passion developed over the years: collecting classic cars. Cars with a story. Many of these cars come from the 1950s and 1960s, a period when I myself drove or was closely involved. They are cars that bring back memories of circuits, of eras, and of a different way of racing.
My interest was never only in the famous or exclusive models. It’s the variety I love. From a simple touring car to Jaguars and all sorts of other makes, each with its own character and history.
Many of these cars I’ve owned for 30 to even 40 years. They’ve become part of my life and my story. That’s why it’s hard for me to part with them.
But there comes a moment when you pass the baton. And what makes classic cars so special is that they not only offer pleasure and history but also unforgettable moments.
I hope that the next owners will derive as much pleasure, appreciation, and passion from them as I have all these years."

Renault - Torpedo KZ - NO RESERVE - 1923
- 30 years in the current owner’s possession.
History and Background: The Renault Torpedo Type KZ
The Renault Type KZ, introduced in the early 1920s, was one of the key models that helped Renault cement its position as a leading French manufacturer after World War I. The "Torpedo" bodywork, recognizable by the open construction without fixed side windows and the continuous line from the bonnet to the cockpit, was the ultimate embodiment of elegance and freedom at the time. Characteristic of these early Renaults is the radiator located behind the engine, which resulted in the iconic, smooth "coal scuttle" hood. A Type KZ from 1923 is a rare and tangible piece of automotive history marking the move toward mass mobility in the interwar period. This specimen offers a unique chance to acquire an early "vintage" Renault without a reserve price.
GENERAL
The vehicle is in good overall condition. There are clear, visible signs of use and general aging, which is fitting and even charming for a car that has crossed the hundred-year mark. The car shows an honest character and forms an excellent basis for a lover of early French engineering.
BODYWORK & PAINT
The bodywork and paint are in good condition but show the marks of a long life. Depending on the desired optical standard, the Torpedo may benefit over time from conventional paint or sheet metal work. Replacing specific exterior parts or accessories may also be desirable to fully restore the historical splendor of this early Renault.
TECHNICAL
Under the characteristic hood lies Renault’s robust four-cylinder engine. Mechanically, the vehicle is healthy and solid. As is typical with 1920s technology, one should expect specific maintenance and the need for regular technical attention or repairs to keep driving ability at a reliable level.
INTERIOR
The open interior is in good, used condition with normal signs of wear appropriate to the age and type of vehicle. Depending on personal preference, certain interior parts or upholstery may need repair or replacement to refresh both comfort and the authentic twenties look.
CHASSIS & UNDERBODY
The structural basis of the chassis is good. The underside shows normal wear and some light surface rust on the exposed metal construction. While the base is solid, the bottom should eventually receive attention for conservation and technical maintenance to safeguard the structural integrity of this hundred-year-old heritage.
