Description from the seller
The painting "donna rossa" (Redhead woman) is an oil on canvas by the Italian painter Di Juè.
It is a unique and authentic work, hand-signed, at the bottom right.
No lithography. No serigraphy.
Roberto DI JUÈ (or Roberto DE JULIO) is an artist of the 20th century who stood out in the Milanese scene during the Seventies for a generous painting that creates dynamics between colors and physical marks on the canvas.
The theme pursued by the artist in this painting is personal introspection. This female portrait is disrupted by decisive lines that give the subject a look of unease and reveal the complexity of her soul and her inner struggles.
Artists who approached the introspective theme were numerous but we recall: René Magritte, who, belonging to the Surrealist movement, like his contemporaries, sought the theme in images that “disturb,” offering a careful gaze toward the nature of identity and reality.
Stylistically, the painter Di Juè surprises us with an abstract–figurative painting, with a full color that fills the lines of the drawing in an harmonious and homogeneous way.
The composition, cut by several directions, provides a dynamic and rhythm-filled composition, although the dimensions of the work are fairly small. Interesting, in addition to the stylistic dichotomy, is also the eclectic color palette that leaves no room for depth of chiaroscuro.
A documentary film with an explanation of the master’s art is available in the Luce Institute Historical Archive at the following link: https://patrimonio.archivioluce.com/luce-web/detail/IL5000072898/2/milano-pittore-roberto-jue.html&jsonVal=
