This original Chinese hand-knotted rug made of pure natural silk dates from the late second half of the 20th century. The round central medallion with floral motifs as well as the multi-layered, detailed borders are typical features of classical Chinese rug art.

The dominant color is a deep red with the characteristic silky sheen, combined with gray, cream, and blue tones. Lotus blossoms and fine leaf patterns appear symmetrically in the center and in the four corners.
