Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer's etchings are often simple and direct, with rough, sketchy lines and strong contrasts. He works quickly and intuitively, leaving the graphic character of the scratches and engravings visible. As a result, his houses take on mainly an emotional, symbolic meaning rather than a realistic depiction.
Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Because of his unconventional way of life, Anton Heyboer was one of the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent lifestyle manifested in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world,' referring to his high output of art. Heyboer trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, albeit still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on which his abstract artworks were based. Yet figurative elements always remain in his paintings and etchings. He also clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
Dimensions of the work without the frame: 38 x 30 cm
Framed work.
Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore, we use restorers from the professional organization 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, of course we would be happy to hear from you."
