LEGO Set - 42113 - Technic - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey - MISB - Rare

Shipping with DHL LEGO 42113 Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey was a 1,636-piece Technic set planned for release in 2020. Developed under license from Bell and Boeing, the model featured working tiltrotors, motorized landing gear, and a winch, showcasing the unique engineering of the real-world aircraft. Just days before its scheduled August launch, LEGO announced the set’s cancellation, following criticism that the V-22 is primarily a military aircraft, something the company has traditionally avoided. By the time of the decision, however, production was complete and sets had already been shipped, meaning that some copies were accidentally sold at retail and distributed to reviewers before being recalled. Most of the production run was destroyed, but a small number of sets, estimated in the hundreds, made it into private hands, making 42113 one of the rarest and most controversial modern Technic sets. According to LEGO Group's official statement: "The LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey was designed to highlight the important role the aircraft plays in search and rescue efforts. While the set clearly depicts how a rescue version of the plane might look, the aircraft is only used by the military. We have a long-standing policy not to create sets which feature real military vehicles, so it has been decided not to proceed with the launch of this product."
