19th / Early 20th Century Moroccan (Fez) Copper-Clad Dowry Chest – Sunduq – Pitched Roof Lid

Traditional Moroccan bridal dowry chest (Sunduq), originating from the Fez / Meknes region, manufactured in the late 19th – early 20th century.
The chest is built around a wooden core (likely cedar) and is fully clad with hand-hammered copper, attached with decorative copper nails.
The architectural pitched-roof lid and the green glass inserts are characteristic of Fez artisanal production.
This type of chest was traditionally used for storing textiles, jewelry and valuable possessions within the bridal trousseau.
