Description from the seller
Grundig C6000 Automatic Radiorecorder – FM/LW/MW/SW – Germany, 1974 – In excellent condition – No reserve.
Offered is a well-preserved Grundig C 6000 Automatic portable radio-cassette recorder from circa 1974. This heavy quality radiorecorder represents the high-quality engineering for which the German manufacturer Grundig became renowned during the golden era of portable hi-fi electronics.
During the early 1970s, manufacturers such as Grundig, Telefunken and Philips competed to produce increasingly sophisticated portable audio equipment. The C 6000 Automatic belongs to the higher segment of these devices, combining a multi-band radio receiver with a cassette recorder in a robust and elegant housing. With its characteristic black and silver design, large tuning scale and solid carry handle, it is a classic example of mid-1970s industrial design.
This 4,6 kg heavy (portable) radio features a 4-band receiver with FM (UKW), longwave (LW), medium wave (MW) and two shortwave bands (SW), allowing reception of both local and international broadcasts. The integrated cassette deck includes automatic recording level control, making it suitable for recording radio broadcasts or external audio sources.
Sound is reproduced through a large elliptical speaker, delivering powerful and clear audio for a portable device of this period. The set can operate either on mains power or batteries, making it a versatile companion for both home and travel use.
The radio is in excellent working condition. The receiver picks up stations well, and the cassette deck plays, records and rewinds properly. The telescopic antenna is straight and complete, and the original power cable is included.
A highly collectible piece of 1970s German audio engineering and a striking display object for collectors of vintage hi-fi, industrial design, or classic portable electronics.
