A Roman-era red earthenware oil jug with a slender neck, pouring spout and double handle, dating to circa 1st–5th century AD, measuring 163 × 114 × 85 mm and weighing 261 g, in very good condition with minimal wear, titled Prachtig exemplaar.
Description from the seller
Beautiful and interesting Roman jug with a slender neck, pouring spout, and a double handle. The earthenware is red-toned and decorated with horizontal ribs. The specimen is in very good condition with minimal damage and is fully intact. It was used for storing liquids, such as olive oil or wine. Thanks to the pouring spout, the liquid could be dosed well and waste was prevented. The specimen is supplied without a stand. See the extensive photo collection for your own quality impression.

Provenance information:
In 2025 purchased at a Dutch art and antique auction, auction house O.V., lot number 1085. Previous provenance: from an old Dutch private collection (Zandvoort), collected since the 1980s approximately, exact date unknown.
The lot will be carefully packed and sent by registered mail as parcel post.
