Description from the seller
Rare monumental trilobed bronze cross - Neo-Gothic style - Late 19th Century
Fine single-faced wall cross cast in bronze, featuring refined relief work. The arms end with elegant trilobes (buttoned cross), a symbol of the Trinity, decorated with floral motifs and volutes. At the center of the intersection stands a blazing solar ray, an iconographic symbol of Christ as the "Sun of Justice".
The back, left unfinished from the casting, bears witness to the artisanal technique of the era (likely staff casting). The suspension ring is integrated into the structure, ensuring sturdiness for wall display. A piece of great devotional and decorative character, typical of sacred furnishings in noble households of the late 1800s.
- Era: late 19th Century (circa 1880-1900).
- Material: solid bronze with natural patina of the time.
- Dimensions: 26.5 x 18 cm, total weight 404 grams.
Generally in excellent condition, with the usual, slight signs of aging, with intact original patina. No restorations or breaks.
Please carefully view the photographic gallery, which is an integral part of the description, to avoid any misunderstandings.
Careful packaging and tracked shipping.
