Description from the seller
Lot of antique pocket watch dials from the late 19th century – early 1900s
Fascinating and rich lot consisting of about 150 original watch dials from timeless pieces, presumably from pocket watches produced between the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. It is an extremely evocative collection that, at a single glance, reveals the elegance and stylistic variety of watchmaking from a era now distant.
The lot includes dials of different sizes, types and origins, made both in enamel and metal, with a remarkable variety of scripts and numerical styles. There are dials with Arabic numerals, Roman numerals, detailed peripheral minute tracks, six‑hour subdials, and decorations typical of Swiss and European watchmaking of the late 1800s. Some bear historical brands and inscriptions such as Rosskopf, Railway Watch, Patent, Vera, in addition to other dials with tachometric or telemetric scales that attest to more technical and particular functions.
Many dials show the natural signs of time: small cracks in the enamel, slight edge chipping, patina, oxidation or signs of wear that recount their long history. These characteristics, far from being defects, are an integral part of the charm of antique objects and make them perfect for collectors, watch restorers or mechanical antique enthusiasts.
Within the lot there is also an item still accompanied by its mechanism, a detail that makes the whole even more interesting from a collecting and educational standpoint, allowing one to observe not only the aesthetics of the dials but also a fragment of the era’s watchmaking engineering.
The set, laid out and presented as a small constellation of dials, offers an extraordinary first impression: a mosaic of horology history that spans decades of production and different styles, ideal for those who want to restore old watches or for those seeking authentic materials for collection projects, study or display.
Please look closely at the photos, which are an integral part of the item description. Quick shipping with tracking code and careful packing.
