Description from the seller
Abílio Marcos is a Portuguese painter born in Maceira, Sintra, Portugal, who began his painting practice as a form of expression at the start of the 1990s. His training and artistic perspective were deeply marked by his experiences abroad, having lived in France from age 4 to 14, and, later, in the United States of America (between 2001 and 2003). The artist notes that his time in the USA, a space of open-mindedness, was an important source of inspiration for his work.
His style is classified as abstract expressionism, characterized by the exploration of color and form relationships that aim to deliver a strong visual impact on the observer.
Abílio Marcos's artistic career is marked by extensive exhibition activity, including more than 150 solo exhibitions and more than 100 group shows. Among his most relevant international exhibitions, his participation in group shows such as ART 21 - MGM Grand Casino Conference Center in Las Vegas, USA (2001), MAC 21 - International Contemporary Art Fair in Marbella, Spain (2001), and World Fine Art Gallery in New York, USA (2003) stand out. At the individual level, his works have been displayed in galleries in the USA (Fleet Bank and Nona Gallery) and in Barcelona (International Art Promotion, 2003), in addition to numerous exhibitions at corporate venues and institutions in Portugal, France and Belgium.
His recognition is formally attested by his inclusion in specialized bibliographies, such as Guia D'Arte and Anuário das Artes Plásticas (since 1995), the volume 50 Anos de Pintura e Escultura em Portugal, and Pintura Contemporânea Portuguesa, 100 Pintores. His works are represented in various museums, town halls, parish councils, and private collections in Portugal and internationally.
