Ispirazione iconografica: Stormtrooper dall’universo di Star Wars
Empire, Interrupted reinterprets the iconic figure of the Stormtrooper
transforming it into a living surface of signs, colors and urban languages.
The armor, symbol of order, discipline and imperial uniformity, is literally
"interrupted" by an explosion of neon graffiti that redefines its visual and
symbolic meaning.
In fotello’s work the figure becomes a layered image: tags, nerve lines,
calligraphic marks and electric chromatics traverse the white armor like an
energy flow. The colors — deep blues, incandescent oranges, acid yellows and
neon pink — recall the aesthetics of nocturnal metropolises, urban signs and the
painted walls of big cities. This urban palette transforms the Empire soldier into
a contemporary icon suspended between pop culture and street art.
The style places itself in a futuristic street art dimension, where the rigidity
of technological armor dialogues with the anarchic spontaneity of graffiti
writing. The result is a visual tension between control and freedom: the metallic
surface, designed to represent power and homogeneity, becomes instead a space of
expression, memory and rebellion.
In Empire, Interrupted the language of the future meets that of the street. The
science fiction imaginaire blends with the energy of neon graffiti, creating a figure
that seems to emerge from a city of tomorrow — an urban guardian covered in signs,
history and light. The work thus suggests that even the most rigid symbols of authority
can be rewritten, contaminated and transformed by the free gesture of art.
fotello (Carrara, 1981) is a contemporary artist who works between painting and digital art.
Raised in a family context strongly tied to artistic tradition — his grandmother was the
artistic director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara — he develops from childhood a
deep sensitivity to the visual arts.
After a study path in the artistic field, since 2001 he has pursued a personal research that
joins painting techniques and digital tools, establishing himself as an author recognizable
for his style and his ability to fuse tradition and innovation. His digital works, signed under the
pseudonym fotello, explore the boundaries between imagination and technology, always keeping the
human and creative element central.
Parallel to this he pursues modern painting, with particular attention to abstraction, understood as a language capable of evoking emotions and meanings not immediately decipherable.
His works, both painterly and digital, are part of private collections in Italy and in several European countries.
