Elegant antique folding fan with finely carved mother-of-pearl guards and sticks, decorated with delicate openwork, engraved details, and applied gilded floral ornaments with colored jewel-like accents. The leaf is hand-painted on paper, depicting a refined Rococo garden scene with aristocratic figures in 18th-century dress, engaged in a gallant pastoral setting.

The fan is mounted in a custom gilded wooden display frame with glass, shaped to follow the fan’s semicircular form, creating an attractive presentation piece suitable for wall display.

The finely pierced mother-of-pearl carving and the romantic painted scene reflect the taste for Rococo revival decorative arts popular in the second half of the 19th century.
