Description from the seller

Elegant and beautiful statue of a woman reclining of a richly decorated bed, possibly Joséphine de Beauharnais, the first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. The scantily clad woman has ribbons in her hair and holds an apple while leaning on two cushions. The object has some minor nicks as well as damage on the back of the dress and the aft corner of the bed (please see the pictures), but in normal use these are not conspicuous. This large and heavy (5,3 kg.) statue is very suitable to adorn a cabinet or a mantle piece.
