Ancient Roman bronze zoomorphic bow fibula with two animal ornaments on the arched bow and a knob terminal, in good condition with a stable green‑grey patina, original/authentic, acquired in 2025 from a Netherlands gallery.

Ancient Description
Roman bronze fibula (brooch) with an elaborate sculptural design. Arched bow with two ornaments / stylised animals on the sides. Knob terminal at the foot.
-> Fibulae of this type were used to fasten garments such as cloaks and tunics and often carried symbolic or decorative meanings. Zoomorphic forms were particularly popular in the Roman provinces and could convey strength, protection, or status.
Condition: Good condition with a stable green-grey patina. The form is well preserved, including the animal features and spring . The pin survives and remains attached.
Certificate of Authenticity (PDF) is available upon request for all lots with a hammer price of €100 or higher.
