Yomut - Rug - 109 cm - 78 cm

Antique Turkmen Yomut (or Yomud) Chuval (also known as tschowal or juval). These sack-like rugs were traditionally used by nomadic tribes for storage in their tents. Key features of the piece: Origin: Western Turkmenistan, made by the Yomut tribe. Pattern: Nine large geometric shapes (called “gul”) are displayed on a reddish-brown ground color, surrounded by a traditional Yomut border. Age: Most similar pieces date from the late 19th century. Design: The rug has a wide, unpatterned band (element) at the bottom, which is characteristic of the Chuval. The rug is in very good condition, with one or two signs of use, it comes from an auction, the invoice is present. We can post it carefully packaged, in an insured, registered package.
