Description from the seller
Rineke Dijkstra
Figuren Figures
Design: Irma Boom
An extremely rare and striking artist's book by photographer Rineke Dijkstra, winner of the Spectrum International Photography Prize. Design Irma Boom.
A photographic book by Rineke Dijkstra with some of the most famous images from her portraits taken in Belgium, Croatia, America, Poland, Ukraine and Russia. What Dijkstra seeks to capture in portraiture is, as she says, “the space between intention and effect. People think they present themselves in one way, but they cannot help presenting themselves in another. It is impossible to have everything under control. But when I try to photograph someone, particularly the whole body, people always wonder: ‘Oh, what will I do with my hands,’ etc.”
Rineke D., Irma Boom I., Stefan Gronert et al.; Figuren Figures. Paperback with flaps, 15 x 21 cm, 143 pages, language English/German; Hannover, Sprengel Museum Hannover, 2018.
The volume presents itself in excellent condition. Cover well preserved. Paperback firmly bound. Interior pages clean without creases or stains. Excellent collectible copy.
