Jasper Wiedeman is a Dutch photographer born in 1963. He is known for his contemporary photography and graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In the book "Tulipa," published by Basalt in 1994, Wiedeman's contemporary photographs are paired with early 20th-century autochromes by pioneering Dutch photographer Leendert Blok. This pairing offers contrasting perspectives, with Wiedeman's work providing a modern window on historical themes, particularly related to Dutch flower bulb cultivators. At the time of "Tulipa," Wiedeman had just completed his studies and was emerging as a promising photographer in the Dutch art scene.
