This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from durable, natural materials. The method of knotting and diversity in patterns make this rug a unique piece and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character.
It is an excellent first-use rug with an extremely long lifespan.
This is a lightly used, cleaned rug that can be laid down as is. This beautiful Tibet rug is hand-knotted dating to around 1960 with the finest, undyed wool sourced from sheep in the high Tibetan region. This wool is naturally extra oily due to the cold temperatures (acts as an insulator for sheep). When used in rugs, this not only provides a beautiful, extra sheen but also a natural protective layer. Wool of superior quality is (almost) hard to find. Natural variance in color is visible, due to the wool not being bleached before the first dye bath. This gives the rug an authentic appearance and contributes to the character of this rug that is full of stories.
Primary color: Red
Accent colors: Cream and black
Notable features: Rich abrash (natural color differences within the rug); Much pile; Beautifully clean and fresh; Full, thick and cushiony rug; Gorgeous shine; Depending on viewing angle this rug has a lighter and a darker side; Impressive rug; Special object; Characterful; Semi-antique.
Wear marks: Minimal edge damage spots, despite still an impressive rug in good condition (photo 15).
