Description from the seller
Description: Etrog boxes are part of the Jewish Sukkot tradition (Feast of Tabernacles). Over the centuries, silversmiths and artisans have made very elegant and beautifully designed etrog boxes, specifically for Sukkot. An etrog is a citrus fruit and is part of the so-called Four Species: a palm frond, myrtle twigs, willow twigs, and the etrog. During Sukkot, all of this is ritually waved (shaken), one of the highlights of the festival. To protect this precious fruit well, it is kept in a special box or cloth.
