He studied initially at the Istituto d'Arte di Parma and was a pupil of Guido Marussig. He moved to Milan where he graduated from the Brera Academy under the guidance of Riccardo Palanti. In 1931 he joined the artistic current of chiarismo and had as friends Angelo Del Bon, Umberto Lilloni and Adriano Spilimbergo. He exhibited for the first time at the Triennale of Monza and from 1939 to 1941 he participated in the Bergamo Prize. During the war he was deported to Germany and upon returning to Italy he joined the Milanese painting movement Corrente, founded by Ernesto Treccani. In 1946 he moved to Casalmaggiore and abandoned painting the following year. Only in 1955 did he resume the painter's activity, turning to surrealism and informale. In 1961 he moved to Parma, where he died in 1979.
