A charming and characterful Gouda plateel vase, richly hand-painted with a vibrant floral decor in warm and fresh colors. This elegant vase stands on a slender foot and has a graceful globular body that is beautifully decorated with floral motifs in shades of purple, yellow, green and brown.

The object is executed in the traditional Gouda plateel technique, a ceramic tradition that gained international recognition from the end of the 19th century. Factories in Gouda developed colorful and often hand-painted earthenware that was strongly influenced by Art Nouveau, Art Deco and later also more folkloric and floral styles.

The vase bears the marking “Plateel Gouda Holland” on the bottom, referring to the rich ceramic tradition of the city of Gouda. In the 20th century several ateliers and factories in Gouda produced this type of decorative earthenware, often fully hand-painted, making each piece unique.

The glaze shows a subtle craquelure pattern, a characteristic phenomenon common in older plateel objects and contributing to the authentic character.
