Description from the seller

Beautiful antique silk embroidery featuring the American eagle, flag, and the Latin motto "E Pluribus Unum" which roughly means "Out of many, one".

This motto symbolizes the union of several entities (originally the 13 American colonies) into one cohesive whole.

The piece was made in Japan toward the end of the 19th century as a souvenir for American sailors.

It was originally framed, but the frame was unfortunately beyond restoration. A new frame is advisable.

In summary, a fairly rare object in good condition with some light signs of wear. It is mounted on a piece of black fabric of a later date.

Dimensions: 46 x 45 cm.
