Description from the seller

This icon represents the three Syrian martyrs known in Orthodox tradition as:

Saint Samonas (Simon / Samon)
Saint Gurias (Gregory / Gury)
Saint Abibos (Aviv / Abib)

These three saints were Christian martyrs from Edessa (present-day Turkey) during the persecutions of the Roman Empire:

Samonas and Gurias died first for refusing to renounce their faith.

Abibos (Aviv) was a deacon and was martyred later, so he is often depicted in liturgical vestments.

The three appear standing, with halos, a symbol of sanctity.

They typically hold crosses in their hands, indicating their martyrdom.

At the top, inside a cloud, Christ appears blessing, which confirms their heavenly glorification.

The inscriptions in Ecclesiastical Slavonic identify each saint (though sometimes they are faded, as in your icon).

They are especially venerated in the Orthodox tradition as:

- Protectors of marriage and conjugal fidelity
- Intercessors in family conflicts and in oaths
