Description from the seller

Saint Gregory (Григорий) – to the left

Saint Basil / Vasily (Василий) – in the center

Saint John (Иоанн) – on the right

The names are written in ecclesiastical Cyrillic on each figure.

The three appear as monks or starets (spiritual elders), with dark robes and scrolls or books (a symbol of spiritual teaching).

The center one (Vasily) holds a scroll with text, typical of learned saints.

Above, Christ in glory appears, blessing, indicating that these are saints venerated together.

This is a Russian icon, probably from the eighteenth–nineteenth centuries.

Traditional technique: tempera on panel, with a dark aged background.

The frame painted in red and green is typical of domestic icons or rural church icons.
