Box - Wood - Norwegian Tine

This is an authentic Norwegian 'tine'; a traditional wooden box used as a collector's piece or decoration.
Handmade from steamed, bent wood (bent-wood technique). It is a fine example of Norwegian folk art with decorative paintings of animals, in this case deer.
A tine is traditionally round in shape with a lid and often a handle.
This tine is typical of eastern Norway, often dated between 1750 and 1850.
It is in good antique condition with the paintings and colors still beautifully intact. Note: a number of individual slats sit loosely against the metal band. There are no parts missing. This tine is a rarity in this original condition.
