Description from the seller
Manuscript (vellum) from the year 1626, measuring about 24 x 35 centimeters, originating from the parish of Mariekerke.
The manuscript is in neat and collectible condition, with the usual signs of aging (the photos are part of the description).
In the manuscript, dated 'June 1626', the terms of a loan are discussed within this parish, with mentions of various family names (Hendrik Pyke, Wouter Wilsoets, Jan Stochove, Jan de Soete, Camerlyncxs) and place names (Brugge, Mariekerke).
Mariekerke is a village in the Belgian province of Antwerp and a sub-municipality of the municipality Bornem. Mariekerke was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977.
Mariekerke has existed since 1228 as one of the four core villages of the Baasrode domain under the name O.L.V. Baserode Sinte-Marie and was part of the Land of Dendermonde. It also had two well-known landing places on the Scheldt at that time, namely "Het Leg" and "Berdonk". Later it became part of the Land of Bornem. At that time a strip of the Scheldt riverbank between Branst and Weert also belonged to its territory. From the 16th century, Mariekerke had its own priest.
Well packed and insured shipping.
