Description from the seller
Rare coffee table by Gio Ponti for ISA Bergamo, Italy, 1950s
Elegant and rare coffee table designed by the renowned Italian designer Gio Ponti and produced by ISA Bergamo in the 1950s.
This model was originally designed by Ponti for his friend and publisher Aldo Garzanti, in the context of the cultural house he founded in Forlì (now known as the Fondazione Livio e Mario Garzanti), intended as a creative space for artists, writers, and students.
The table features a refined and architectural design, with a solid ash wooden base composed of two intersecting supports, creating a sculptural and balanced form. The round glass top enhances the lightness of the piece while highlighting the geometric construction beneath.
The table retains its original ISA Bergamo label, confirming its authenticity.
This model is documented in:
F. Bertoni, Gio Ponti: Idee d’arte e di architettura a Imola e in Romagna, La Mandragora Editrice, Imola, 2012, p. 195.
A copy of the publication is included in the sale.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with signs of use consistent with age. Some wear visible on the wooden structure (see photos), and light surface wear to the glass top.
Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
