Ceramic Montelupo Fiorentino plate with a double braided ribbon decoration, dating to circa 1850–1900, in used condition with probable small missing pieces; diameter 30 cm, height 4.5 cm, width 30 cm, depth 3 cm, origin Tuscany, Italy.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Plate from Montelupo Fiorentino with decoration “a double intertwined ribbon.” The artifact has an amatory character because at the center there is a half‑bust image of a young woman between the initials “A” and “C” with a heart pierced by an arrow beside it. For the ribbon decorations in the tie, see Fausto Berti in “Storia della ceramica di Montelupo,” vol. II, pp. 118-120. Diameter 30 cm; height 4.5 cm. Glaze chipping, one glaze crack, and firing defects (burns). In the last image a similar plate of the same type. The photos attest to the object’s condition. Provenance: from my collection. Prudently it is listed for auction as made in the nineteenth century but most likely dates to the first half of the sixteenth century. The buyer will be sent the purchase document that traces the piece’s creation to the sixteenth century. SHIPPING ONLY TO EU.
