Description from the seller
An elegant and decorative French mantel clock from around 1900, designed in the classic Louis XV style stands ready for sale.
The clock features a finely worked figurative group with a female figure and a child. The portrayal appears allegorical and symbolizes care, education, and familial bond.
The richly ornate case with typical Rococo elements rests on a decorative plinth and displays a handsome patina developed with age. The enamel dial is in good condition for its age and is complemented by elegant hands.
Inside lies a classic French round movement with bell striking. The movement bears an oval stamp indicating a French maker from the Samuel Marti circle.
Condition: the clock is currently in operation and runs steadily. The striking mechanism is present but not yet fully adjusted. A winding key is not available. Professional servicing is recommended.
The clock features a thread suspension for the pendulum, typical of French pendulums.
Overall, an attractive collectible piece of French clockmaking with high decorative impact.
