Description from the seller
A pair of majolica and glazed ceramic bookends, fully hand-decorated. Made around 1930 by the Austrian factory Liezen, in Art Deco style. The folkloric attire of the man and woman, both the facial features and the flowers, strongly evoke Wiener Keramic’s ceramics, notably by artists such as Michael Powolny or Eduard Klablena. Both sculptures are signed on the bottom with the factory name engraved in the ceramic. Also the catalog number and the place of production, Austria, are present. Dimensions per item: height 13.5 cm, width 13 cm, depth 10 cm.
