Description from the seller
Baroque/Rococo Style Frame – Carved and Gilded Wood – 20th Century
Elegant carved wooden frame from the early 20th century, crafted in the decorative canon of the Louis XV/Rococo style. It is a piece with strong visual impact, ideal for enhancing classical oil paintings as well as for being converted into a luxurious mirror.
Artistic Details:
Design: Molded structure with sinuous profiles and strong relief.
Ornamentation: Features rich decoration of rocaille, volutes and acanthus leaves both in the corners and at the centers of each crosspiece.
Finish: Period gilding with an aged patina that enhances the depth of the carving, lending an antique and noble character.
Condition and Conservation:
Condition: Very good (see photos). It preserves structural solidity and the beauty of the original gilding.
Back: Traditional miter joint construction. Shows minimal remnants of lining paper/seals from previous framing that do not affect the front aesthetics at all.
Material: Solid wood with stucco appliqués for the fine ornamental details.
