AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Elegant Savonarola chair by Florentine artists in walnut wood.

Produced in the mid-20th century in Italy, precisely in the Tuscany region.
The Savonarola is a folding chair, closes like a book and consists of serpentine curved elements and cross X. The backrest represents the lily, Florentine symbol while it is wrapped by floral decorations.

The term "Savonarola" derives from the name Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498), in whose time the chair of this type would still be preserved in his cell at the San Marco convent in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death.

In good overall condition, normal signs of wear and age (see photos). The chair has been recently restored with anti-tarlo treatment and wax for wood treatment. Dimensions: 90 cm height x 60 cm length.
