General Description
Magnificent three-leaf articulated fireplace screen, crafted in gilded bronze and brass. The piece stands out for its fine black metal mesh that lets heat pass through while providing elegant protection, and its exquisite neoclassical-inspired ornamentation.
Artistic Details and Ornamentation
Central Body: Features a rich garland of flowers and leaves in applied bronze, suspended from two side rosettes, a classic symbol of the Louis XVI style.
Side Panels: Curved at the top (arch-shaped), each decorated with a relief motif of a torch or floral cornucopia.
Top Finial: Crowned by an imposing openwork acanthus cup or rosette, adding height and a majestic silhouette to the piece.
Supports: Stands on elegant bun feet that ensure stability and a slight elevation from the floor.
Condition: one of the supports is missing
Construction: The hinges function properly, allowing the side panels to be adjusted to fit the width of the fireplace.
Finish: Very good overall condition. The gilding retains its brightness, with a soft patina that enhances the bronze reliefs.
Mesh: The metal mesh is well taut and shows no apparent tears.
