Description from the seller

Large maiolica vase from Gualdo Tadino – grotesque decoration – Italy, early 20th century (h. 28 cm)

Elegant artistic maiolica vase from Gualdo Tadino (Umbria), a renowned Italian ceramic center active especially in the production of decorative maiolicas during the 20th century.

The piece features a refined polychrome grotesque decoration inspired by the Renaissance, with rich and detailed ornamental motifs, including volutes, plant motifs and a stylized central vase. The color palette, dominated by blue, red, orange and ochre, is typical of the Umbrian tradition.

The form is classic, with a globular body on a tall foot and small decorative side handles. The entire object is hand-painted, as evidenced by the slight painterly variations and by the signature under the base bearing “Gualdo”.
