Design Vespa 50 Special – Technical Drawing – Frame, original, framed, 63 × 93 cm with a black wooden frame and museum‑grade canvas print.
Description from the seller
An urban icon in its stylistic maturity. Official document and representation of the Vespa 50 Special in its final production stage, at the end of the 1970s. By then, the small Vespa was no longer just a youthful vehicle: it was part of the Italian and European cultural landscape, established as a symbol of everyday freedom and timeless design.
The 50 Special of 1978 kept the essence that made it famous — steel monocoque body, compact dimensions and the characteristic square headlight — but incorporated small technical evolutions and finishes typical of the era. Its aesthetics blended functional simplicity with an unmistakable character: clean lines, protective shield and that silhouette that seemed to float lightly among urban traffic.
Under the seat beat the classic two-stroke, air-cooled, 49 cc single-cylinder engine, paired with a manual transmission on the left grip. In these final versions, many units came with a four-speed gearbox, offering a more elastic and city-friendly response. It wasn’t a machine of numbers, but of sensations: high-pitched sound, mechanical vibration and a lightness that made every journey agile and spontaneous.
In the full cultural effervescence of the late 70s, the 50 Special became an inseparable companion of students, workers and youngsters seeking independence without renouncing style. It was economical, durable and easy to maintain, but above all it was a silent statement of identity: practical, modern and authentic.
Today, the Vespa 50 Special from the late 70s is one of the versions most sought after by collectors and vintage culture enthusiasts. It represents the perfect balance between tradition and evolution within the Vespa universe: a small machine that encapsulates an entire era of simple mobility, Italian character and freedom on two wheels.
Comes with a black wooden frame and synthetic crystal. Very well wrapped and protected for trouble-free transport until you have it in your hands. External measurements are 63 x 93 cm and 3 cm in depth.
Large-format print with gallery-quality. Museum-grade cotton canvas paper, 340 g/m2.
FRAME INCLUDED, you’ll only need to hang it on the wall. Shipped in a wooden box to avoid any impact. See the photos.
