Elegant early 20th-century English sterling silver oval box, featuring a refined tortoiseshell lid with piqué inlay decoration.

The lid is beautifully decorated with a classical garland motif in fine gold/silver pique work, set against rich tortoiseshell. The base is crafted in solid sterling silver with a smooth polished finish.

Fully hallmarked on the rim:

Maker’s mark: A.C.D
Assay office: Birmingham (anchor)
Standard mark: lion passant (sterling silver)
Date letter: “y” (1923)

This type of box was typically used as a trinket, ring, or snuff box, and remains a highly decorative cabinet piece today.
