Model BX660U, manufactured in 1946, in very good physical condition, tested and functional, weight 12 kg.
Description from the seller
A very well-known, large Philips (then) world radio that could not be saved electronically, given the complexity of the wiring and the weathered wiring. About three quarters of the internal section had to be dismantled and rebuilt for any repair, to end up with an AM set that today offers little. This unit was built in an inexplicably complex and intricate way (!).
Case: black lacquer renewed and the wood-grain section refreshed and brought to a gloss finish (small traces of age/use).
Bakelite parts: deeply cleaned and protected with clear high-gloss varnish.
Speaker grille repainted.
Apart from the transformers, tubes and the speaker, all other components are new.
Converted to a 5-watt tube amplifier of own design with separate treble/bass control and driven by either a:
- Solid-state tuner: very good reception on FM (87-108 MHz) with a small whip antenna and medium to good reception on medium wave with built-in ferrite antenna;
- Bluetooth receiver (not Hi-Fi);
- External display with banana plugs (470 kΩ);
- External speaker with 3.15 mm jack (47 kΩ);
Output for external speaker with banana plugs (5-8 Ohm).
Scale lighting with LED-E10-6VAC/DC
The large high-efficiency wideband speaker, relatively powerful output tube, and separate treble/bass controls ensure a warm and intense sound.
Tubes: AZ1-EBL21-ECH21-ECH21-EF22 (tested +90%) – EM34 (“magic eye”, tested 90% and connected as a VU meter)
H360(440 with the tuning scale upright)*B580*D260mm – 11.3 KG
