Description from the seller

This Daoguang period (1820-1850) Qing dynasty, famille rose porcelain apple-shaped jar features a rich polychrome decoration of peonies, flowering branches, and birds, surmounted by a frieze of ruyi heads on the shoulder. The piece rests on a carved wooden base and retains its original lid adorned with a knob-shaped finial.

The object is in generally good condition. A slight firing flaw is noted on the rim of the lid, which is not a crack but evidence of its artisanal manufacture in antiquity. The base bears an old collection label explicitly mentioning the Tao-Kuan period.

Total weight of the set: approximately 3.433 kg
Weight breakdown: jar about 2.75 kg and base about 683 g
Maximum diameter: about 21 cm
Base diameter: about 14.5 cm
Circumference: about 72 cm
Height of the jar alone: about 20 cm
Height with lid: about 23 cm
Overall height with base: about 32 cm
