Larimar is a gemstone, a variety of blue pectolite, found exclusively in the Dominican Republic.
Its blue color, reminiscent of the Caribbean Sea, and its white veins make it unique and sought-after. The name "larimar" was coined by combining "Lari," a diminutive of the name of the daughter of Miguel Méndez (one of the discoverers), and "mar," which in Spanish means sea, according to LineaGem.
Larimar is also often called the "Atlantis stone" or the "dolphin stone." It is associated with peace, harmony, and emotional healing.
