Alpine AL-85 Cassette Deck
Serviced for 275€
Replaced the reel idler; replaced all capacitors in the Dolby recording and playback circuit. Cleaned the potentiometers and switches. Adjusted the speed.

The Alpine AL-85 Stereo Cassette Deck is a rare and highly respected high-end cassette deck from the early 1980s, built for serious audiophiles and collectors who value precision analog recording and playback. Introduced in 1982, the AL-85 combines Alpine’s premium engineering with advanced tape transport design, offering exceptional performance, elegant styling, and impressive flexibility for fine-tuning recordings. Featuring a 3-head configuration, dual-capstan direct-drive transport, support for Type I, FeCr, CrO₂, and Metal tapes, plus Dolby B and Dolby C noise reduction, the AL-85 was designed to compete with the best cassette decks of its era. With its ultra-low 0.022% wow and flutter, wide 20 Hz–23 kHz frequency response (Metal tape), and manual calibration options, it remains a standout choice for vintage hi-fi enthusiasts looking for both sonic performance and collector appeal.
