Chalcedon belongs to the family of microcrystalline quartz and forms over millions of years through the deposition of silica-rich solutions in cavities and fissures of the Earth's crust. The characteristic golden color of this freeform is the result of mineral trace elements such as iron oxides, which give the stone its warm radiance. Particularly high-quality specimens come from Madagascar, Namibia or Brazil, where these unique varieties are found.
This artfully cut freeform is not only an aesthetic collectible but also an impressive decorative object that carries the natural beauty of the Earth within it. Its warm, calming coloration makes it a harmonious element in any environment and gives rooms an elegant yet earthy aura.

It is fossilized wood dating back about 200 million years, with all parts of a log or branches silicified, meaning that organic components were gradually replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks.
Its features are those of the mineral that would have transformed the wood: silicon.
And that’s what we commonly call petrified wood in the ordinary language.
