HISTORY
Unique in the Netherlands: this MG B Roadster Limited Edition, of which only 420 were built, only for the British market and thus right-hand drive. It concerns the last series of the MG B ever produced, at a time when MG B production had already effectively stopped. At the time, interested parties were chosen by lottery to become the owner of a Limited Edition. The current owner of this car had registered for a GT (coupe) where 580 were built, but was unsuccessful. His brother, living in England, was luckier in the registration for a roadster and became the owner of this example. After 4 years of enjoying the car, it passed to the current owner: a MG collector in the Netherlands who has owned several MGs for decades. The car was registered in the Netherlands in 1988 and has always been cherished and well maintained. The car has mostly been used for touring, which kept the mileage to 52,416 (84,355 km). Unlike many other examples, this unit has remained in very original condition. Being a late-built example, it is regarded by many as the finest driving MG B.

EXTERIOR
All 420 produced roadsters are originally finished in bronze metallic paint with gold side stripe and orange upholstery. A splendid and retro color combination. This example is accident- and rust-free and is still in its original paint. The rubbers, lighting and chrome are in good condition. The overall visual condition is good with only minimal signs of use. The left rear fender shows slight rust at the lower edge, but like the entire underside it has been treated with a protective coating (conserved). A hallmark of the later B models are the front spoiler and the popular 4-spoke alloy wheels, which are also in good condition. The soft top is in good condition with no tears or damage, and the locking mechanism functions well.

INTERIOR
A striking interior with orange seat upholstery featuring brown stripes, as originally supplied. The interior is also in original and good condition. Given the year, it is equipped with comfortable amenities such as a center armrest, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heating and a Pioneer radio/cassette player. The numerous gauges on the dashboard include an oil temperature gauge and a clock. The synchronized 4-speed gearbox features overdrive, providing a pleasant '5th gear'. The trunk space accommodates the spare wheel.

TECHNICAL
Mechanically the MG is well maintained and starts, runs and shifts excellently. The tires around are virtually as new and the MOT is valid until February 6, 2027. In short: a very original specimen of a unique car in the Netherlands!

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
