Description from the seller
A scarce photobook by one of Japan's most influential contemporary photographers, Kishin Shinoyama (b. 1940).
Published in 1976 by Qantas Airways (Australia's national airline) as a non-commercial promotional item to encourage overseas travel. Text by Toyoji Oda.
The title "Hashi o Wataru to" (literally "When You Cross the Bridge") symbolizes stepping into the unknown world beyond the familiar, much like crossing a bridge. The book features Shinoyama's vibrant and light-hearted photographs of foreign landscapes, cityscapes, and daily life — primarily highlighting Australia and other destinations. With 204 pages, it captures the joy of discovery and travel with his signature fresh perspective.
As a promotional non-sale item produced by an airline, it had very limited distribution, making it highly sought after by collectors of Shinoyama's work, Japanese photobooks from the 1970s, and aviation-related ephemera.
CONDITION
The cover shows some scuffing. Otherwise, it is in very good condition.
