Jacques Jourdan, a French Impressionist oil painting titled Commedia dell'Arte from 1910–1920, hand-signed and sold with its frame.
Description from the seller
Jacques Jourdan (France: 1880 - 1916), the artist of this work, fell in the First World War at a young age. He nonetheless left a substantial body of work. This piece, in my opinion, was once sold under the title "Commedia dell' Arte" and can be found as such on auction-result sites.
The indicated dimensions include the frame. The work itself measures 62 x 73 cm. It was marouflaged while in my possession because the canvas was in mediocre condition. Some craquelure, but not disruptive in my view. Please study the photos closely.
I actually discovered the signature in the upper right corner only later, although the work was also signed on the back of the canvas. Due to the marouflage, that is no longer visible, but I did take a photo of it at the time.
To give you an idea of prices, here are a few of his works that have sold, although prices for the "classical - i.e., impressionist art" nowadays are not as high.
- Le Soukh de Tunis: 68 by 57 for 2134 Euro sold at auction in 2000
- Boote im Hafen: 48 by 38 for 1300 Euro sold at auction in 2004
- Feu de Vareches: 55 by 65 for 4650 Euro sold at auction in 1990
